
Internships
In the last two years of my study Communication & MultimediaDesign I did two internships, first at the Marikenhuis and for my graduation at Stadsboom. Both organizations are committed to a better world. This really appeals to me. Personally, I hope that in my professional career I can also contribute a little to a better world!
1.Marikenhuis
I did my first internship at the Marikenhuis in Nijmegen, a walk-in centre for people affected by cancer. During this internship, I worked together with my supervisor and several stakeholders at the Marikenhuis on the 'Huis in actie' campaign. Due to the corona crisis, the Marikenhuis had a hard time of raising enough funds. With the 'Huis in actie' campaign, the Marikenhuis wanted to bring in donations, in order to get through this difficult time. The target amount of the total number of donations was 5000 euros from the start of the campaign. This amount was eventually achieved. During my internship at the Marikenhuis, I worked on three documents. These included an analysis report, a campaign plan and an improvement plan. Besides that, I also provided all kinds of content for the campaign (flyers / online content).
In the analysis phase of my internship, an internal-, external-, target group- and competition analysis were carried out, with the aim of gathering more information in addition to the campaign plan. In the campaign plan, the strategy of the campaign has been worked out, in order to eventually be able to put it into practise. Among other things, the type of content was determined, the brand positioning worked out, the time and budget were made known and the resources of the campaign were looked at.
Below is a template of the content used in the campaign. In this type of content, the story of an (ex) cancer patient was told.

Finally, I delivered an improvement plan to further improve the performance of the Marikenhuis website. Therefore I used the statistics of Google Analytics.

2. Stadsboom
I accomplished my second internship at Stadsboom. Stadsboom is a furniture maker/work company. At the company, various people with a distance to the employment market are guided towards a paid job. These people work all day at Stadsboom on the production of various wooden furniture, which is then sold from the showroom of Stadsboom. But Stadsboom had a problem. Many stakeholders knew about Stadsboom as a work company and were not aware that Stadsboom also sells furniture. On the online channels of Stadsboom little attention was given to this topic. That's why the following graduation assignment was drawn up: 'How can the online communication of Stadsboom be set up in such a way that customers become familiar with the unique working method of Stadsboom and that they are subsequently encouraged to purchase furniture?'
To be able to work out a solution for this problem, research was carried out. During this period, it was investigated who the target groups of Stadsboom are and what motives they have for buying furniture from the company.

A competition analysis was also carried out to see how other furniture makers position themselves within the market. The delivered findings were eventually converted into data visualisations (stepping stones). An example of one of these stepping stones is the ’Unique Selling Points’ that have been drawn up, which you can find below:

Based on the information provided, a solution was eventually worked out. Two products were delivered: a prototype for a new website and a content strategy. Several templates for social media posts have also been delivered to the content strategy, which can be found in the image below:

3. UP Internet
After my study, I could not immediately find a job. That is why I decided to gain work experience differently. Eventually, I ended up with the company UP Internet. This marketing company is mainly engaged in the sale of domain names. At some point, the company decided to use some of its domain names themselves, to set up at least two websites: mannenzaken.nl and autorijden.nl. They were still looking for a copywriter for these websites. So this eventually became my task during this internship. Nevertheless, I shall limit my attention to the writings for autorijden.nl throughout this internship. Good examples of texts I have written for this website are: ‘Ierse Rally-coureur overlijdt na heftige crash tijdens testrit in Kroatië’ or the article ‘Foto: Fans geschokt door nieuwe haarstijl van Max Verstappen’.
